Eggnog Cookies

Cookies Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted Butter, softened

  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar

  • 2 Large Eggs

  • 1 cup Eggnog

  • 1 tbsp Dark Rum (optional)

  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour

  • 2 1/4 tsp Baking Powder

  • 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Eggnog Icing Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar

  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter, softened

  • 3 tbsp Eggnog

  • Grated Nutmeg (optional)


  1. In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat together butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes

  2. Add eggs, one a time, mixing well after each addition

  3. Add eggnog, rum, vanilla

  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Add butter mixture, beating just until combined

  5. Chill dough for 30 minutes for easier handling and heat oven to 350F

  6. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness

  7. Using floured cookie cutters or round biscuit cutters, cut into desired shapes then place on parchment paper lined cookie sheets

  8. Bake 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown, transfer to wire cooling racks to cool completely

Icing Directions

  1. Combine powdered sugar and butter in a small bowl, blending with a fork

  2. Add eggnog & blend well

  3. If icing is stiff, add additional eggnog one teaspoon at a time until a creamy frosting is achieved

  4. Spread icing on cooled cookies or other seasonal dessert

  5. Sprinkle with a dash of nutmeg if desired!
